Sleep apnea requires lifelong treatment, which means your CPAP machine will need to be used night after night. To ensure a comfortable experience with your CPAP machine, it's important to select the right mask — one that is comfortable but also one you can rely on to know you are getting the most out of your sleep apnea treatment.

Finding the right mask is just as significant as finding the right CPAP machine. Opting for a full-face CPAP mask can offer reassurance that you are properly equipped to get the most out of your CPAP therapy. Here at CPAP Depot, we offer a range of high-quality full-face masks from trusted brands, including Resmed, Fisher & Paykel and Philips.

What is a full-face CPAP mask?

CPAP full face masks cover both the nose and mouth, forming a seal across the airways. To maintain the seal throughout the night, the masks are secured by side straps, chin straps, or headgear. It shouldn't matter if you're a restless sleeper; the straps should hold the mask in place.

Note: If you do notice that you Experience air leakage while wearing a full face mask, this is likely a sign of a poorly fitting mask — it may be time to take a look at a new mask.

Is a full-face CPAP mask right for me?

If your answer is yes to the following — a full-face CPAP mask may be the solution you have been looking for.

You suffer from severe sleep apnea

If you suffer from severe sleep apnea, you may have been recommended a high-pressure setting for the airflow on your machine. If this is the case, a full face mask that covers both airways is a great option. Nasal masks can be uncomfortable when on the receiving end of this pressure. For this reason, most severe sleep apnea sufferers wear a full face mask.

You are a back sleeper

The good thing about being a back-sleeper is you can wear most mask options comfortably. Sleeping on your back is the least restrictive position for CPAP therapy. This does mean that a full face mask is a good option for a back sleeper. When people typically sleep on their side, they can find a full face mask to be bulky and sometimes uncomfortable.

You suffer from allergies or medical conditions

If you suffer from allergies or any other medical conditions that make it difficult for you to breathe through your nose, then a full face mask will likely be a good option for you.

You are a mouth breather

If you predominately breathe through your mouth, then a full face mask will be an appropriate choice for your CPAP therapy. Nasal or nasal pillow masks are not great for mouth breathers.
